What to say about the less than charitable words Anthony Bourdain had for his chef colleague Paula Deen? And of Paula Deen's rebuttal?
It's unclear exactly where the hostility came from, but one thing is clear: he won't be using any Paula Deen recipes any time soon.
I don't understand why celebrities like Anthony Bourdain find it necessary to publicly denounce the work of other people. Yes, it may generate buzz in the short term, but what will people remember about his words? What sort of taste does it leave in the mouth of those who come across his spiteful words today (certainly not anything buttery, Ms. Deen's signature ingredient).
My tip to Anthony Bourdain: expressions of bitterness never suit a person very well, and certainly not in such a public way. Let posterity remember you for being interesting, not insulting.

West Memphis Three Released!
The West Memphis Three, notorious murderers who were possibly wrongly convicted, were released today! There's a lot of buzz going on around the internet discussing the West Memphis 3, which only makes sense due to the intense attention paid to the infamous Memphis Three, including documentaries like "Paradise Lost" and advocacy by celebrities.
Among these celebrities, Eddie Vedder and Johnny Depp were among the most vocal, and even hosted a benefit concert for the West Memphis Three!
Here's my take on The West Memphis 3: determining a correct verdict of guilt or innocence is at the foundation of the judicial system, and the process of coming to either verdict is fraught with many complications. The West Memphis Three are notable because they kept so strongly to their initial plea of innocence.
However, it's important to analyze and understand the impact celebrities like Eddie Vedder and Johnny Depp have on our judicial system, which is intended at its core to be impartial. Though the West Memphis Three were exonerated primarily based on a lack of DNA evidence at the scene, one wonders if the persistent lobbying by celebrities had an effect or not.
Of course innocent people should be freed if they were convicted for crimes they did not commit, but as a society we must be careful about allowing celebrities to influence impartial processes too strongly.
